Legacy & Generations

Knowledge that has to survive the person who learned it

Swan Apothecary was built one family at a time. This part of The Swan Legacy keeps that inheritance in the open — what elders learned the hard way, what caregivers need at 2am, and what we still do not know.

Meet Robin

Caregivers and adult children

Asking on behalf of someone else, usually at midnight.

Practical titration notes, what to bring to a clinician, and how to keep a record that someone else can read. The questions that used to arrive by phone now stay public.

Pets

The member of the family nobody wants to get wrong.

Happy Pet Medicinals sits inside the same hub, with weight-based guidance and a vet-first rule that we repeat as often as it takes.

This week's batch of questions was almost all about titration. My honest answer has not changed in fifteen years: start lower than you think, hold it for four nights before judging it, and write down what happened. Most of the disappointment I see comes from moving too fast, not from the wrong product. I will take the three most common questions live on Thursday.

Eleven years with rheumatoid arthritis. The topical butter is the only thing that lets me get through a full morning in the garden without stopping. I am not claiming it does anything to the disease — it does not. It just gives me back a couple of hours a day, and at 71 that is not nothing.

Nobody prepares you for the admin side of caring for a parent. I keep a notebook by the bed now — dose, time, how she slept, what she ate. Three weeks in and the pattern is finally readable. If you are new to this, start the notebook on day one, not day twenty.

Fifteen-year-old cat, arthritic back legs. Vet cleared us to try the essential infusion at the low end for her weight. Four weeks in she is getting onto the windowsill again by herself. Talk to your vet first — mine wanted to check it against her kidney bloodwork.

A reminder I will keep repeating: nothing sold here treats cancer, and anyone who tells you otherwise is not someone you should be buying from. What we can talk about honestly is symptom burden — sleep, appetite, nausea, pain. That conversation is worth having and it does not require anyone to exaggerate.

The Elder Circle

Long-standing members who have lived with a condition for years and are willing to answer the same question patiently, again. Moderators award the Elder role — it is never bought, and it never turns into a sales pitch.
